Presentation about the Erasmus+ VAM*RS project of the FHM in Krakow
The European border protection agency Frontex held a conference on modern learning and training methods using augmented, virtual and mixed reality (AR, VR & XR) on February 28th and 29th. Prof. Dr. Carsten Domann was invited as a speaker and presented the FHM's experiences in the "Training" conference section. In terms of content, Prof. Domann tailored the results from VAM*RS and VRinSight - with a clear industry focus - to the interests and needs of Frontex. Frontex and the major European authorities are open and almost eager to adapt the results from EU research projects and specialized IT service providers. The presentation and panel discussion were very well received by the audience, which was later demonstrated in countless conversations. At the same time, an industrial trade fair took place on three floors of the ICE Krakow Congress Center; The FHM also presented the VAM*RS project with its own exhibition stand.
What can be said? – The development of AR and VR has progressed enormously in the last 3 years. New hardware (from well-known manufacturers in the USA) is setting the standards. The software can and must come from Europe. Learning, studying, training, applying and linking content of all kinds is working better and better and is also setting new horizons that need to be reached.
The time to real, tangible mixed reality is shortening!
Präsentation über das Erasmus+ VAM*RS Projekt der FHM in Krakau
Die europäische Grenzschutzbehörde Frontex hat am 28. und 29. Februar eine Konferenz zum Thema moderne Lern- und Trainingsmethoden mittels Augmented, Virtual und Mixed Reality (AR, VR & XR) durchgeführt. Prof. Dr. Carsten Domann war als Redner eingeladen und hat in der Konferenzsparte "Training" die Erfahrungen der FHM präsentiert. Inhaltlich hat Prof. Domann die Ergebnisse aus VAM*RS und VRinSight - mit deutlicher Industriefokussierung - auf die Interessen und Bedürfnisse von Frontex zugeschnitten. Frontex bzw. die großen europäischen Behörden sind offen und geradezu wissbegierig, die Ergebnisse aus EU-Forschungsprojekten und der privaten Wirtschaft zu adaptieren. Die Präsentation und Podiumsdiskussion fanden großen Anklang beim Publikum, was sich in unzähligen Gesprächen gezeigt hat. Parallel fand auf drei Etagen des ICE Krakow Congress Centre eine Industriemesse statt; auch die FHM hat das Projekt VAM*RS mit einem eigenen Messestand präsentiert.
Was kann festgehalten werden? - Die Entwicklung von AR und VR ist enorm vorangeschritten in den letzten 3 Jahren. Neue Hardware (von bekannten Herstellern aus den USA) setzt die Standards. Die Software kann und muss aus Europa kommen. Lernen, studieren, ausbilden, anwenden und verknüpfen von Inhalten jeglicher Art, es funktioniert immer besser und setzt auch neue Horizonte, die erreicht werden müssen.
Die Zeit bis hin zu echter, erlebbarer Mixed Reality, verkürzt sich!
